Professional Biography: Richard D. Downs

I am a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, earning a DDS degree in 1975. I have attained a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry, a Fellowship in the Misch Implant Institute and a Fellowship in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Our practice of three dentists also have training in advanced bone grafting and 3D cone beam implant imaging placement from the Las Vegas Institute. Our advanced cone beam software diagnostic program allows us to place implants into bone and see the vital structures like nerves and sinuses for implant placements that are strong and less likely to have complications with those structures.

I am presently engaged in a very active cosmetic dental practice with training through the PAC~live (Pacific Aesthetic Continuum) sponsored by Discus Dental who's members have been featured on the Extreme Makeovers program on television. With the advanced training I have taken in implantology and Invisalign my cosmetic practice has more options for enhanced outcomes. Cosmetic imaging, orthodontics, advanced laser dentistry and advanced surgical implant techniques have combined to enable superior results.

I also have a nationally recognized breath disorder treatment network called New Century. Our sister company, New Century Marketing sells video based breath treatment seminars to dentists throughout the world who wish to be trained to treat and diagnose bad breath problems in patients. My dental practice is a very busy 5000 square foot three dentist modern facility with the most up-to-date treatment equipment and techniques. From warm and relaxing colors and atmosphere to such advanced diagnostic equipment such as the Waterlase Laser for comfortable drill free cavity preparation and a Halimeter, which can actually measure the amount of bad breath gases, can be found in our office. We have an in-office Spa room for our patients who may wish to have a pedicure, facial or manicure. The Aspen Spa performs other relaxing and health promoting services exclusively for our patients.

My philosophy of practice is that patients have a dental healing center that can take care of the vast majority of all their family's needs without going to specialists too frequently. Both traditional and Invisalign Orthodontics, non-surgical and surgical gum treatment, oral surgery, laser and cosmetic dentistry, life-like crown and bridge, Brite Smile gas plasma light (www.britesmile.com) teeth whitening, preventive dentistry, implant surgery and restoration, and prosthodontics can all be handled in this center. In addition to Empress veneers our practice believes in offering realistic cosmetic solutions which may be less drastic.
